Teaching is meaningful work, but it can also be emotionally demanding. From managing the needs of a classroom full of children to navigating the expectations of families, colleagues, and school administrators, teachers often spend their days putting others first. Over time, the stress can accumulate, leaving even the most dedicated educators feeling overwhelmed, isolated, or burned out.
At Birch Counseling, we believe that the people who care for our children deserve care and support, too.
We are pleased to introduce Caring for the Carers, a six-session counseling group designed specifically for Pre-K through elementary school teachers experiencing mild to moderate anxiety, burnout, or work-related stress. The group is planned and facilitated by clinicians who are former educators themselves and understand firsthand the unique demands of working in a classroom.
A Place to Slow Down, Breathe, and Feel Understood
Teaching can sometimes feel like a solitary experience, even when you are surrounded by people all day. You may find yourself carrying the emotional weight of difficult classroom experiences, feeling pressure to meet competing demands, or wondering whether others understand what you are going through.
Caring for the Carers offers a small, confidential space where teachers can step away from their daily responsibilities, take a breath, and connect with colleagues who understand the realities of their work.
Together, participants will have an opportunity to share experiences, listen to one another, and offer genuine understanding and validation. The goal is not to add another task to an already busy schedule, but to create space for teachers to attend to their own well-being.
Because the group is led by clinicians who have stood in front of a classroom themselves, participants can connect with professionals who appreciate the complexities of teaching—not just the rewards, but also the challenges that often go unseen.
Who Might Benefit From This Group?
Caring for the Carers may be a good fit for Pre-K through elementary school teachers who:
Feel isolated or alone in the demands of the classroom and would appreciate connecting with peers facing similar challenges.
Experience mild to moderate anxiety, work-related stress, or symptoms of burnout.
Want a supportive environment where they can share their experiences and feel heard without judgment.
Are willing to listen to others and offer the same understanding and validation they hope to receive.
Participation is voluntary. A sense of safety and belonging is essential to the group experience, and each participant must choose to be there for themselves.

Teachers devote so much of themselves to helping children learn, grow, and thrive. Supporting their own emotional well-being is not a luxury or a sign of weakness. It is an important part of sustaining themselves in work that asks so much of them.
